We begin our series on the Book of Psalms by exploring Psalm 1, which sets the foundation for the entire book of Psalms. It reveals a deep spiritual truth: there are two paths in life—the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked. One leads to blessing, rootedness, and fruitfulness. The other leads to emptiness and destruction. As we reflect on this psalm, we’ll be challenged to examine where we’re rooted, how we’re being shaped, and what it truly means to flourish in God’s way.

Jesus is called the “Messiah” or “Christ” meaning the “Anointed One” in Matthew 1:16. The Old Testament prophecies the Messiah, and the New Testament reveals the Messiah to be Jesus of Nazareth. Today we looked at the prophecies that show how Jesus is the son of God, had the Spirit without limit, was anointed to set the captives free, is seated at the right hand of God and is our perfect High Priest!

Fathers, it is our responsibility to love our children and give them what they need most, provision and protection. When you really think about love, that’s what it is, provision and protection. Fathers were designed by our Heavenly Father to provide material, spiritual, emotional, and relational provision.

The wisdom of Proverbs shows us that we are wise to be careful what we allow in, and God shows us that there is no damage done that He cannot restore. Our hearts are the center of our being. The attitudes that we allow in are directly correlated to the people we become. Living with wisdom means that we are very careful about the things we listen to, watch, and consume.

Will we insist on standing only in the winds of social media? Or will we invite the Spirit to breathe new life into us? Let us choose which current of wind we will daily allow to shape our souls and affect our lives.
